The Cultured, Conniving, Cannibal

I was about ten years old the first time I got to watch Silence of the Lambs. Was that wildly inappropriate for a child that age? Of course, but it helped in spawning a love for the charismatic villain who ate people! Here was this man, who for all intents and purposes, was perfectly sane, yet could give you nightmares just by talking.

A True Keyblade Master

Ansem is all about the Darkness. He wants to live in it, be it, and create an entire kingdom bathed in it. Welcome to the Kingdom Hearts fandom! It took me quite a while to unscramble my brain and organize all the time travel so I will touch briefly on all four incarnations and then sum up on why this person is the perfect embodiment of all evil and deserves to burn on a pyre.

Book Review: Identity Theft

When John Abramowitz reached out to us to review his book Identity Theft, I was vaguely hesitant. A series about a young arcane defense attorney who takes supernatural clients? Paging Wolfram & Hart!

I started the first book in the series so I could be properly acquainted with the universe Hunter Gamble lives in and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Clothes Inspired by Superheroes: Wolverine

We’re all familiar with the cigar smoking, ole teddy bear of a mutant, Wolverine, right?

Ship of the Week: Christian and Satine

A secret song between two forbidden lovers helps keep this pairing on my mind, particularly when it comes up on my shuffled music library.

Moulin Rouge centers around the tale of a young writer who narrates his tragic love story in the year 1899-1900. Freshly arrived in Montmarte, France, Christian vows to become a writer of Bohemian ideals, particularly love, even though he has never experienced it.

This Week in Comics

While I read just about everything, I’m quite picky about the titles I ultimately add to my pull list and the purpose of these mini reviews is to perhaps get you to pick up a new title yourself or to broaden your comic horizons. Most of the time I’ll write up the new #1′s I’ve chosen, or if the issue was truly spectacular, it’ll serve as a way to spotlight the series as a whole. Either way, let’s begin!
