Offbeat, oddball and just plain outre, Tim Burton has a fan following like no other director. Sure, big screen Godfathers like George Lucas and Peter Jackson may see more fan art inspired by their pet movie projects, but Burton’s fans seem as fascinated by Burton himself as by any of his big screen block busters or cult classics. The Tim Burton section of fanpop.com is an ideal example. There’s art by Tim Burton, inspired by Tim Burton, of Tim Burton, for Tim Burton and about Tim Burton, some mimicking his signature curl-tinged sketchy style and other portraying him in a whole new light or medium. This would also have to be the first time I’ve seen a director depicted in fan-made coin (center right). Wonder if that gets you free admission into Halloweentown?
