The holiday scramble has begun! Hitting stores up every weekend, searching online for endless hours, going to sites you probably have never been to before as you’re looking to find that special something to gift a loved one. It’s the same stuff every year for as long as I can remember. You can go big and get some electronic device that plays music, perhaps a TV with all different options that allow you to watch television in varying forms of HD, maybe a computer for your Internet addicts. (Or all three combined into one.) You could take a chance on apparel, which to me is just way too risky. Try and remember your gift receipts for those situations. Either way, it gets pretty boring out there, which got me wondering. Aren’t merchandisers missing the big boat?
We all have our obsessions and guilty pleasures, but how often do we run into them at a store? Unless its in the form of a graphic mug or poorly designed tee, we don’t. Understandably, most of the particular product I’m talking about does exist, but it’s geared toward children and their toys, expecting adults to go out of their way for the custom made stuff. I say that’s crap and Hollywood or other merchandising chains would make a ton more money if they made some reasonably priced collectables for adults. Aren’t we all collectors of something? Is it really to much to ask to have a happy medium? I’m not going to shell out 400 dollars for a full scale replica of Thor’s Hammer or Captain America’s Shield, but the 20 dollar toy versions are a bit too underwhelming for my shelf space.
However, there are a few reasonably priced exceptions if you know where to look! I’m going to share with you the top seven I’ve come across for those who are searching for something different and cool to put under the Christmas tree this year.
Iron Man Hoodie: Lets face it, we’ll never get our hands on Tony Stark’s armor without a really hefty custom made price attached to it. I find this to be a very cool alternative for the fellow Iron Man fans. It’s definitely on my list.
Lightsaber Laser Pointer: Good things do come in small packages! If your a Star Wars fan and have a pet who loves to chase lasers, this is an awesome gift for you. Note the beauty that is the cheap retailing at $12.99. The detail makes a world of difference and turns a throw away stocking stuffer into a prized possession.
Magic Wand TV Remote: A bit more expensive but with all the Harry Potter fans around this could win you the best gift award in your house hold. Blending fantasy with true life functionality and purpose should be the wave of the future, allow us to express ourselves in different, more fun ways.

Legend of Zelda Flash Drive: For the techie gamer this gift goes a long way. Not only are you providing your data consumer with storage space, but he or she is going to feel cool every time they go to access their stored files, its the freaking Master Sword.
The Shot Glass Lens Set: Stepping out of the fantasy niche for a second to show you this kind of thinking could apply to a lot more then geeky things. We all have that friend at the parties who is into photography. That person is probably also responsible for posting some of your not so finest moments on the web. This is a good thank you Christmas gift for those people. Just make sure you have your camera ready.
iPhone Leather Book Case: For that friend opposed to all things Sci-Fi, preferring to live entirely in the fantasy side of geekdom yet still has the most recent Iphone with all its Artificial Intelligence Sci-Fi Glory. Once again the beauty of it comes from the detail slash affordability and functionality. Items like this are a no-brainer for people. We all have a friend this would be a good gift for if not ourselves. Much better then trying to find the right plastic cover with the right skin on it.
Star Wars Daddy Issues Thermal: I mentioned earlier in this post that buying clothes for someone was risky, and I still feel that way. There are exceptions to this rule and this would be one of them. Quality themed clothing, for both men an women this could be a great gift. Guys have it easier in this department, there are a ton of clothes out there that we find cool and represent the things we like. That doesn’t help you shop for that certain lady in your life, or even that female buddy whom shares similar taste. So if your like me and don’t know your way around Forever 21, Wet Seal or Macy’s, so what should you do? Well if there were more places like HerUniverse.com that wouldn’t be a problem. I find it a way better alternative then hunting down the latest Team Edward shirt.
That’s my top 7 finds for my geeky Christmas list. I shared the links within each image so you can find some gems of your own. Back to my original point, shouldn’t there be a place for these types of things in regular stores. Is it to much to ask Target or Walmart to carry Jedi Bath Robes? Feel free to share your own finds in the comments, let’s help each other out on cool stocking stuffers!

Good ideas. I especially like the Iron Man hoodie and the shot glass lens kit.
O.o i must have that wand
i think i need that flash drive!
